I’m going to begin with a confession. The last time I saw Kwabs live was at In The Woods festival having consumed far too many beers and sips of stranger’s vodkas. I remember small parts of his set, mainly his spine tingling cover of James Blake‘s ‘The Wilhelm Scream’.
It’s 10pm in the middle of November and we’re on a balcony overlooking the city of Birmingham. To say we were frozen solid would be an understatement. As I lay strewn across a deck chair, I had before me one of 2014’s most promising acts; Sivu.
The last time I saw Charli XCX live was in a tiny little sticky floored venue in North London. I imagine that night, the seeds were planted for one of 2013’s biggest hits. You see, Icona Pop were the support as Charli headlined, and the Swedish duo probably possessed a little more star power.
